The SLS-SD1400 is Senlis’s Deep Island Freezer: an R290 island cabinet measuring 1400 × 650 × 870 mm with a listed range of −23 to 8 °C, copper pipe evaporator, night curtain, LED lighting and back-to-back or side-by-side modular connection. Internal volume and power draw are confirmed per quote.

The “confirmed per quote” rows are not hidden extras. Senlis does not publish these values for this model, and we would rather leave them blank than print an estimate. Ask for them in your inquiry. Volume and power draw matter most if you are comparing the SD1400 with island freezers that are listed in litres or cubic feet.

What does “deep” mean on this model?

This is the most common misreading of the name. In the Senlis range, “Deep” is the model’s type name. It does not mean the cabinet is deeper front-to-back than its neighbours.

The SD1400 has the same external width and depth as the Flat Island Freezer, and it stands 40 mm lower. The Arc and Combo models are both deeper externally (765 mm and 810 mm). If storage depth is your deciding factor, compare internal volume figures from the quote rather than the model names.

How much floor space does a run of SD1400 units need?

Work out the cabinet footprint first, then add your own aisle clearance.

1. Choose a layout: single unit, side-by-side row, or back-to-back island.
2. Multiply the cabinet dimensions by the number of units in each direction:

• Ask about connection hardware. The figures above are plain arithmetic from the cabinet size and do not include any trim or end panels. Confirm the assembled dimensions in your quote.
• Add clearance on every open side for shoppers, trolleys and restocking. This depends on your store standards and local fire-egress rules, so we don’t give a single number here.
• Check the delivery route. Measure doors and corridors against the packed dimensions, which you should request with the quote. Don’t measure against the bare cabinet size.

At 870 mm high, the SD1400 sits at a height most adults can reach over comfortably. That matters for back-to-back islands, where shoppers reach into the far half of the cabinet.

Temperature range: what −23 to 8 °C does and doesn’t promise

The lower limit of −23 °C covers typical frozen retail goods. The Arc Island and Combo models go down to −25 °C if you need extra margin for deep-frozen products such as ice cream.

The upper limit of 8 °C reaches into the chilled band, but the SD1400 is sold as a freezer. The island line does not list multi-zone control. Plan for one temperature per cabinet, and confirm with us before you plan any chilled use.

R290 compared with island freezers still listed on R404A

Ada dondurucuları on the market still appear with R404A refrigerant. The SD1400 uses R290 (propane), a natural refrigerant. Two points matter for importers:

• Regulation: R404A is a high-GWP HFC, and the EU F-Gas Regulation and the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol are phasing down HFCs. A cabinet charged with R290 does not depend on that shrinking supply.
• Flammability: ASHRAE classifies R290 as A3 (higher flammability). IEC 60335-2-89, the safety standard for commercial refrigerating appliances, includes requirements for appliances that use flammable refrigerants. Make sure the technicians who will service units in your market are trained for A3 gases.

On OEM/ODM orders Senlis can also build with R134a or R600. Tell us at the quote stage if your market requires either.

When the SD1400 is not the right pick

• You need a narrower unit: the Arc Island Freezer (SLS-YD1200) is 1200 mm wide.
• You need −25 °C: choose the SLS-YD1200 or SLS-ZD1860.
• You plan to move the cabinets often: casters are not listed for the island line. If you reposition promotion bays regularly, ask before ordering.
• You need volume figures today: the SD1400’s capacity is not published, so you will need a quote round before you can compare it like-for-like with listings that state litres or cubic feet.
